You’re invited to Camp Lutherhaven’s Chicken Dinner happening on Sunday, July 24th, 2022!
The day will begin with worship at 11am in Camp’s open-air Pavilion with the Chicken Dinner to follow. Afterwards, we hope you’ll stick around to enjoy the beachfront, recreational activities, fellowship with friends, and reconnect with former campers and staff members, sharing memories and God’s hand in our lives. Camp Lutherhaven has been touching lives for Jesus for over 70 years. We hope you save the date because we would love to have you lend your voice as we give thanks for God’s continued blessing to the many campers, families, staff, churches, schools, and other organizations that have called Lutherhaven home.
Our guest speaker will be Rev. James Keller, pastor at New Life Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN. Pastor Jim has also been serving as missionary to the Burmese for over 20 years. His mission society is L.A.M.B. (Lutheran Agency for Missions to Burmese). He speaks a little Burmese, reads a little Burmese, writes a little Burmese, sings a little Burmese, but eats a lot of Burmese! He and L.A.M.B. have been instrumental in helping Camp Lutherhaven with two of their annual servant events called Burmese Mission Outreach and All Nations Outreach. Pastor Jim also serves as a part time chaplain at Lutheran Life Villages, South Anthony campus.
Pastor Jim spent many summers at Camp Lutherhaven. He met his wife Annette at Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne. This year they will be celebrating their 35th year of marriage and also celebrating their family of nine children, 4 grandchildren, and one on the way!. Pastor Jim is an avid Spider-man fan (all nine children are named after Spider-man characters).
Prices, paid at the door are:
Adults (Ages 13+) $10/person
Children ages 6-12: $6/person
Children 5 & under: free
The dinner will include chicken, vegetables, potato salad, drinks, dinner roll, and dessert.
This year’s Chicken Dinner proceeds will go towards Lutherhaven’s Campership Fund, which fulfills an ongoing, annual need as it provides assistance to families who do not have the financial resources to experience a summer camp program at Lutherhaven. If you can’t make the Chicken Dinner but still wish to help support Camp, please visit our donation page.
This year, Lutherhaven will also be celebrating the retirement of Bob “Bobcat” Bickham, Lutherhaven’s Site Director, during Chicken Dinner. We hope you will join us in thanking Bob and Lynn for their ministry at Lutherhaven the past 6 years and wish them a happy retirement!
If you are unable to make it to the celebration, feel free to send cards to Bob & Lynn at 1596 S 150 W, Albion, IN 46701. They will be at Lutherhaven through August.
