Outdoor Education

Combining modern facilities, 72 acres of hickory and oak forest, trails, fields, and wetlands make Camp Lutherhaven a great spot for your Outdoor Education. Since 1969, Lutherhaven has provided facilities and programming for educators in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.

Camp’s goal is to compliment, reinforce, and clarify concepts that are usually taught in the classroom. Lutherhaven offers as much help as needed by your group, able to provide facilities and an environment conducive to learning; teaching classes ranging from amphibians to wetlands study; or providing an entire Outdoor Education experience.

As we continue to grow, our goal is to be a resource for your family and your home school association. Consider the possibilities Lutherhaven can provide, both in facilities and programming, and let us know how we can assist you.

Lodging & Meals

Camp Lutherhaven provides three different areas for housing outdoor education groups. The dormitory area holds up to 40 people in the lodge, available August through May. The blue ridge cabins are heated and can house up to 60 people, and are available during the school year. Other groups prefer to use our rustic cabins which hold up to 80 people and are available during the Spring and Fall.

Two meal plans are possible while at camp. The kitchen may be rented out for the duration of the stay, or Camp Lutherhaven can provide the meals.

Program

Camp Lutherhaven desires to meet the unique needs of each participating group so that each student has opportunity to enjoy excellence in their outdoor education experience. There are three approaches that may be considered.

  1. Camp Lutherhaven is available to be rented out to groups for any prearranged dates for a program of your own leading.
  2. The staff at camp are trained to provide lessons for large or small groups of students, supplementing your already existing program.
  3. The staff at Camp Lutherhaven can plan and implement an entire outdoor education program ranging from 1 to 5 days. Some of our possible programming is listed below for you.
